Those of us with dry skin know that hyaluronic acid is a must-have ingredient for maintaining essential moisture, but with hundreds of formulas on the market across price points, it can be hard to select the right one for your skin. After hearing buzz about Truskin’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum on TikTok (it has over 2 billion views on the app), our editors rolled up our sleeves to put it to the test.

Truskin’s serums are some of the bestselling Amazon beauty products you can find; the brand’s Vitamin C serum has over 93,000 five-star reviews. But those with dry skin — particularly acne-prone skin that runs dry — shouldn’t pass up on Truskin’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Like all Truskin face serums, it’s created with a limited list of ingredients that are primarily plant-based.

While most hyaluronic acid serums aim to tackle dryness, this formula does that and more. A closer look at Truskin’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum’s ingredient list reveals that the formula includes a plant-derived hyaluronic acid as well as willow bark, organic aloe vera, organic jojoba oil, and organic gotu kola. Together, the ingredients in Truskin’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum come together to tackle three common skin concerns: dryness, redness, and breakouts.

Amazon shoppers — particularly those with aging skin — can’t stop raving about the benefits of this hyaluronic acid serum. “The hyaluronic acid serum is a gift that plumps my mature skin and reduces the large pores that show up on the cheek and nose area when I use it twice a day,” says one tester. Others note that it’s great on sensitive skin, decreasing redness and brightening the complexion with consistent use.

To see if this formula lives up to its hype, we’ve been testing it twice daily for one month. Read on for our in-depth review.

How We Tested Truskin’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum

  • Product tested: Truskin Hyaluronic Acid Serum

  • Period of testing: Four weeks

  • Application method: I applied three drops on cleansed skin daily in the morning and at night, following with moisturizer and face sunscreen during the day and with retinol products and night cream in the evening.

  • Number of testers: One

  • Key ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, vitamin E, jojoba oil, aloe vera, and cica

  • Pros:

    • Contains calming cica and aloe vera

    • Amber glass container ensures ingredients don’t degrade with sunlight exposure

    • Cruelty-free and dermatologist-tested formula

  • Cons:

    • Feels slightly tacky upon initial application

    • Some skin types may be sensitive to the vitamin C in the formula

  • Editor testing review notes: After consistently using Truskin’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum twice daily for four weeks, I noticed improvements in many of my skin concerns, including dryness, redness, and breakouts. The formula is lightweight and cooling when you apply it (although slightly tacky — but that dries down within a minute), and it delivers similar hydration to hyaluronic acid serums that go for four times the price of this affordable skin care product.

Truskin Hyaluronic Acid Serum Review — Editor Testing Notes

Some context about my skin: It’s bone dry, prone to redness, and tends to breakout in my T-zone. This combination makes it difficult for me to treat one skin concern without exacerbating the other. The acne treatments I rely on for clear skin worsen dryness and redness, and some of the heavy-duty moisturizers I use to quench my skin can make pimples emerge overnight. I’m always looking for skin care products that strike a balance between hydrating my skin without overwhelming my pores.

During my month-long testing window with Truskin’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum, I was immediately pleased with the feel and texture of the formula. It’s cooling on contact and lightweight, layering well with my go-to moisturizers for dry skin. This serum also passed another short-term test: It doesn’t pill under other skin care and makeup products, including makeup primers and medium-coverage foundations. I’m sensitive to skin care products with vitamin C, but the light dose in this formula didn’t make my skin turn red after application (win!), so I moved forward with applying it twice daily.

After consistently using the serum for four weeks, my skin is noticeably calmer, brighter, and smoother. Around the two week mark, I noticed an improvement in fine lines that tend to settle around my eyes and on my forehead, as well as a brighter, more even complexion (likely courtesy of the serum’s vitamin C). Another major benefit of Truskin’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum? It’s incredibly calming. Not only did I notice a visible improvement in my skin’s redness, but the formula also helped with my skin’s tolerance to retinol products — I’m thinking that’s the calming cica and aloe vera — allowing me to increase my dosage of this anti-aging powerhouse.

I’ve tested hyaluronic acid serums that cost up to four times the $15 price point of Truskin’s, and I can say that this one is a high-value choice that feels — and works! — as well as pricier alternatives.
