Motorsport UK, the national racing authority for the United Kingdom, announced Wednesday it has banned Russian- and Belarusian- licensed drivers from competing in U.K. motorsports until further notice.

The announcement comes just one day after the FIA announced drivers from those two countries would be able to compete in sanctioned events in a "neutral capacity" going forward, without the ability to display symbols, colors, or flags.

The U.K.'s decision means Russian driver Nikita Mazepin, who currently drives for Haas, would not be able to race in the British Grand Prix in July 2022. His father, Dmitry, is the man behind Uralkali, the team's title sponsor and main financial backer. Haas is currently reviewing its situation; BBC expects the team to sever all ties with the Mazepins sometime soon.
