Principals to be notified of James Larkin Pearson Poetry Competition winners

Mar. 25—The James Larkin Pearson Poetry Competition poems have been judged

The poems submitted for the sixth James Larkin Pearson's Poetry Competition at Whippoorwill Academy and Village have been judged by North Carolina's seventh poet laureate, Joseph Bahtanti. The noted writer will also be inducted into the North Carolina's Writer's Hall of Fame this year.

The competition is held for Caldwell and Wilkes counties' middle and high school students. James Larkin Pearson was North Carolina's second poet laureate and longest serving poet laureate. He attended Whippoorwill Academy and Village. He authored several poetry books.

Principals will be notified about the winning students.
