Preparations underway for inaugural Lovin’ Life Fest
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Preparations are underway for Charlotte’s inaugural Lovin’ Life Fest, which is expected to bring in tens of thousands of attendees and some of the biggest names in music.
The festival will be held at First Ward Park in Uptown from May 3-5, and Post Malone, Stevie Nicks, and Noah Kahan will headline the shows.
Leaders from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Charlotte Area Transit System, and Emergency Management will hold a briefing Monday at 11 a.m. to discuss their plans for the week, including how they plan to keep festival goers safe.
Festival organizers have implemented a clear bag policy for attendees and will prohibit the following items:
Fireworks
Explosives of any kind
Weapons or firearms of any kind
Bladder style backpacks
Bota bags
Drugs
Drug paraphernalia
Outside food, alcohol, or drinks, including unopened water bottles.
Kites
Coolers
Umbrellas
Audio recording devices
Professional video or photography equipment
Tents
Framed backpacks
Chairs of any kind
Laser pointers
Pets and animals
According to the city website, street closures will begin as early as Tuesday, April 30.
The following street closures begin April 30 at 10 a.m.:
8th Street from Caldwell Street to the light rail tracks
7th Street from Caldwell Street to Brevard Street
The following street closures begin May 2 at 10 a.m.:
Brevard Street from 6th Street to 9th Street
9th Street from Caldwell Street to the light rail tracks
7th Street from Brevard Street to the light rail tracks
Caldwell Street from 6th Street to 9th Street will close one hour before to one hour after each day’s concerts, except after the last concert. Caldwell will remain closed and reopen by 6:00 a.m. at the latest on May 6.
The following streets will reopen on May 6 at 6 a.m.:
Brevard Street
9th Street
7th Street from Brevard Street to the light rail tracks
The following streets will reopen on May 7 at 6 a.m.:
7th Street from Caldwell Street to Brevard Street
8th Street from Caldwell Street to the light rail tracks
