Jermaine Dupri has vented his frustrations with the GRAMMYs’ eligibility rules. On Wednesday (March 27), the producer shared on X how Muni Long’s viral record “Made For Me” will not be able to win a golden statuette at the 2025 ceremony.

“So I just got a message stating that the muni long record will not be eligible for next years Grammy awards because it was submitted this year, you know how crazy that is !?” the Atlanta native shared.

“The the likelihood of me, and Bryan, producing another song of this magnitude might not ever happen again.” He closed the post with the exploding mind emoji.

Despite the revelation, fans and followers responded with encouragement, urging him to submit a different version of the R&B track, suggesting a live or extended edition.

Produced by Jermaine Dupri and Bryan Michael Cox, Muni Long’s “Made For Me” was initially released in September 2023. The catchy song created another viral moment for the singer, just as her track “Hrs and Hrs” made digital waves and earned critical acclaim in 2022.

“Made For Me” debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year. In December 2023, it became her first No. 1 record on R&B radio, and “Hrs & Hrs” peaked at No. 1 on urban radio.

“If you take this song, the Muni Long record [“Made For Me”]… I was watching TikTok and I saw this Yeat [and] Mariah Carey mashup. I saw it one time, and I saw it again and I start seeing it multiple times. I’m like, ‘All this is a thing,'” detailed the So So Def Recordings founder in a conversation with ASCAP during the 2024 Membership Meeting, per Complex.

“At first, I thought, ‘They trapped my Mariah beat out’…And I listen again, I’m like, ‘This is the same drums I use.’ It’s the same beat, they just took Mariah off and put Yeat on here. It’s nothing different, and these kids are acting like this is the freshest shit they ever heard in they life.”
