The debate over which soda brand goes best with Cincinnati chili has reached Scranton, Pennsylvania.

On Monday, Skyline Chili and Gold Star announced that the local chains would soon offer the full lineup of Coca-Cola drinks and discontinue the sale of Pepsi products. The news resulted in mixed reactions on social media.

Actor Brian Baumgartner, who played Kevin Malone in the NBC sitcom "The Office," weighed in on the decision in a new social media video published Wednesday.

In the video, Baumgartner states that despite the Coke vs. Pepsi debate, Mountain Dew and Cincinnati chili "will forever be together." Baumgartner, a self-proclaimed "chili aficionado," also announced his partnership with Mountain Dew in the social media post, telling fans to stay tuned for updates about how to get the lemon-lime soda with a purchase of Cincinnati chili.

"Look, we're all aware. I know a thing or two about chili. So, I have been closely following the breaking Cincinnati-style chili news over the last day or so, and I am here to tell you there is no cause for concern. I repeat, 'there is no chili gate,' " Baumgartner stated. "The truth is, Mountain Dew, it isn't going anywhere."

Baumgartner's partnership with Mountain Dew to save Cincinnati chili comes as no surprise, given his character Kevin's reputation with the dish. During season 5, episode 26 of "The Office," Kevin brings a huge pot of his famous chili to the Dunder Mifflin office for his coworkers to enjoy but accidentally spills the chili all over the floor.

He attempts to scoop it back into the pot with binders, but instead, he ends up getting the messy dish all over himself.

"Don’t stress Dew Nation, we have some good news. Mtn Dew has partnered with the iconic king of chili himself, Brian Baumgartner, to save the day," a press release states.
