Donald Trump has made an unconventional move to wish his wife, Melania Trump, a happy birthday.

The former model turned 54 earlier today and received her birthday wishes from her husband in front of the press just as he was about to head into the courtroom for his hush money trial.

Trump also claimed he would be heading back to be with her once the day's court session was over.

Donald Trump Laments Being Unable To Spend Time With His Wife On Her Birthday

Today's court session for Trump's hush money trial had a special twist: The former president took time to celebrate his wife, Melania.

The Slovenian-born former model, to whom he has been married since 2005, turned 54 years old, and Trump just had to let the world know. Melania is also Trump's third wife, as he was previously married to Ivana Trump and Marla Maples.

"I want to start by wishing my wife Melania a very happy birthday," he told the press just before he headed into the courthouse for his hush money trial.

After the wishes, the billionaire mogul turned the spotlight back to his ongoing lawsuit, ranting about how it was making him miss out on spending time with Melania on her special day.

He added, "It'd be nice to be with her, but I'm at a courthouse for a rigged trial."

On X (formerly Twitter), Trump was mocked for what many described as an "awkward" birthday wish.

One user wrote, "I'm glad Melania can take a break from sitting by Trump's side at his trial and just enjoy her birthday. Oh… Wait…"

Another said, "His being in court and far away from her is the gift she was hoping for. I bet her birthday wish this year will be him going to prison for a long time."

A third person commented, "I'm sure Melania is counting the hours until Trump comes back."

"DJT is trying to pretend that he cares for Melania's birthday. I'm sure if DJT wasn't in court today, he would be somewhere else other than sharing Melania's birthday," another X user said.

As part of his chat with the press, Trump also revealed his wife's whereabouts, saying she is currently in Florida, presumably at their 17-acre Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach.

He also claimed he would be heading over to spend the rest of the day with her after the court session.

The former president concluded, "I'll be going there this evening after this case finishes up. This horrible, unconstitutional case, when it finishes up."

It is unclear if any celebration was held for the occasion, as Trump did not mention it during his conversation. He also did not address why Melania and his other family members have been absent from the trial.

Meanwhile, many have speculated that Melania has no plans to make an appearance. She has also rarely appeared on Trump's campaign trail, despite the former president's claim that she has an active role to play.

Trump's trial is expected to last another month before a verdict is reached on the case. However, despite just a few days in, several revelations have come up, one of which was that the former president allegedly pressured his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to bury Karen McDougal's story.

McDougal was a former Playboy model whom Trump was allegedly involved with, just like adult star Stormy Daniels, who is at the center of the hush money case.

The testimony about the McDougal's story was made by former editor-in-chief of the National Enquirer, David Pecker. He claimed that he and Cohen engaged in "more frequent" discussions revolving around the story, seemingly to ensure that it did not make headlines. This conversation was reportedly held as frequently as twice a day.

According to the journalist, the National Enquirer's relationship with Trump was "mutually beneficial," adding that the outlet frequently published stories that tarnished his opponents' reputations.

On the first day of the trial, Trump spoke briefly to reporters outside the court, going on a tirade about the trial being an act of persecution by his political opponents.

"Nobody has ever seen anything like it," the former president said. "This is political persecution ... it's a case that should have never been brought."

Although Trump refrained from naming names, he went on to say that the trial is also "an assault on America.

He continued, "This is an assault. On our country. And it's a country that's failing. It's a country that's run by an incompetent man who's very much involved in this case. This is really an attack on a political opponent. That's all it is. So I'm very honored to be here."
