Don Cheadle states the one thing that matters in 2020

On The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, actor Don Cheadle declared that the only thing that will matter to him in the 2020 presidential election is who can beat Donald Trump. Noah noted that on Cheadle’s Twitter page, his avatar is a picture of a 7-year-old Guatemalan girl who died while in U.S. custody, and his bio says he is a “single issue dem voter in 2020.” Asked what that means, Cheadle responded, “It means whoever can win. That’s my single issue in 2020. Ya know? Who can beat this dude.”

So far, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., have entered the ring as possible Democratic challengers to Trump, with many more expected to follow in the coming months. The many choices have Cheadle perplexed.

“What’s amazing is we’re in 2019 now, and I don’t know who the frontrunner is,” Cheadle said. “I don’t think I could say definitively who I think the person is who has risen to the top that can do it.”

Well, Noah came up with a solution to Cheadle’s problem — one that Trump, given his status as a WWE Hall of Famer, is familiar with.

“It’s all of them,” Noah said. “It’s like a tag team thing.”

The Daily Show With Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11 on Comedy Central.
