More often than not, Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton get pitted against one another due to their husbands’ ongoing brotherly feud but these ladies are probably more alike than we think and have certainly showcased similar fashion senses in their twinning moments.
The women of the royal family tend to set trends. And this generation of the royal family certainly has Kate and Meghan to thank for some pretty fabulous fashion moments. Princess Kate and Duchess Meghan are true style icons. They often put a modern spin on classic silhouettes, and we love to see how they use sartorial statements to pay homage to Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II.
But there’s something we’ve noticed recently and can’t get it out of our minds: Princess Kate and Duchess Meghan have actually twinned before! No, they never showed up to a royal engagement in the exact same outfit. They have, however, worn very similar looks on separate occasions. If anything this just goes to show how much the women have in common when it comes to their respective style sensibilities.
Recently, fans learned that Kate and Meghan actually wore the same dress in different styles. Meghan wore the stunning lace cocktail dress back in 2012, while Princess Kate has worn the dress with a longer cut and in black. Both dresses are designed by Diane von Furstenberg. Honestly, when you take a look at the side-by-side photos, there’s no denying these two women have a similar mind when it comes to fashion. Meghan and Kate both opted for power suits in these stark white looks. Meghan wore this chic, double-breasted blazer when she attended an event for her husband’s Invictus Games in The Hague, Netherlands in 2023.

Before they even crossed paths, Kate and Meghan had a twinning moment back in 2016 when they both work stunning red ankle-length dresses. Meghan wore the pop of color during an appearance on the Today Show while Kate wore hers on a trip to Canada months later.

Okay, stay with us on this one, but these women rock the wraparound blouse trend. On March 2, Kate rewore this green tie-neck silk blouse from Burberry when posing with the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway, and Meghan wore a similar style months prior with this simple and chic pink blouse!
Betting on Beige Coats
While visiting the Oxford House Nursing Home on Feb 21, Kate wore a full navy look with a long beige coat on top. A few years back, during a visit to New York City, Meghan opted for a similar ensemble with a black dress with black pumps and a beige coat. A color palette that just works!
Ladies in Lace
This is the dress that started it all, really. Kate’s worn this stunning black lace gown before, but it was Meghan who sported a version of the dress in a cocktail cut and in navy blue in 2012 for a USA Network event.
A Perfect Pattern
During her first royal engagement in Wales in 2018, Meghan worn this patterned, boat neck top while Kate wore a similar pattern on her coat in December 2017.
Twinning in Tartan
Meghan had a memorable walkabout in Scotaland during her 2018 visit and rocked this gorgeous tartan coat. Kate has worn a similar pattern before, as you can see by the photo.
Women in White
2017 must’ve been a big year for white garments because both Meghan and Kate wore the color that year! Meghan wore a gorgeous white coat during her engagement announcement in November 2017, while Kate wore this white ensemble during a royal tour to Poland.
Gals in Yellow
We love a pop of color, and so do Kate and Meghan. Kate wore this beautiful yellow frock to Wimbeldon in 2018, while Meghan sported this yellow dress to the Your Commonwealth Youth Challenge Reception in July that same year.
