12 Pregnancy-Friendly Beauty Products

Whether you apply makeup Kim Kardashian-style every morning, or simply appreciate a kick-ass hydrating moisturizer, there’s no reason to stop beautifying just because you have a bun in the oven. Just look at Kate Middleton—the Duchess of Cambridge has kept up her flawless appearance even though she’s just days away from giving birth.

The trick lies in knowing what ingredients to avoid, but how’s a girl to know what to those ingredients are? Manhattan-based dermatologist Lisa Airan encourages patients to skip products containing hydroquinone, which is the active ingredient in many skin lighteners and tretinoin. “These two chemicals have a high systemic absorption rate. Also, self-tanners contain dihydroxyacetone, which may be mutagenic,” says Airan. I tried all of the below products while seven months pregnant with my third child, and while some read “for pregnancy” on the label, others were simply eco-conscious, plant-based, or free of the “bad stuff.”
