Having a baby changes everything, and things you once devoted time to— especially when it comes to beauty—just might not seem essential anymore. Conversely, products like concealer that mask sleepless nights become must-haves. Parents magazine just surveyed 1,500 millennial moms to find out their take is on beauty now that life isn’t just about them anymore. The results were surprising.

Almost all the women surveyed said their beauty routine had changed. Dark circles and stretch marks—typical concerns of new moms—are now a regular part of their lives. But their new approach to beauty is not anything like the generation of mothers before them. For starters, 34% of the women have rocked non-traditional hair colors like blue or pink. A surprising 13% of the moms don’t even wear makeup on date night. And 16% have played with temporary tattoos, a beauty trend that is especially popular with Midwest moms. Their go-to for beauty inspiration? It’s not magazines. Pinterest was the hands-down favorite.

As the first generation of mothers in a social-media driven society, over half of the women surveyed say they take selfies—although we’re willing to bet a lot of those selfies also include a baby. All those pictures might be one of the reasons why millennial moms don’t cut corners when it comes to beauty after baby. Where 71% spend 30 minutes or less on their beauty routine, only 13% have cut it down to ten minutes. And the most surprising part of the survey? A total of 44% say they would rather give up sex for a month than give up makeup. Clearly beauty brands are doing their job.
