Updated 2014 Honda Civic Pricing Starts at $18,190

Though a little late to the party, Honda's significantly updated 2014 Civic went on sale this week with a starting price of $18,190 (not including a $790 destination charge), which represents a $225 increase over the previous model. That sum will likely get buyers behind the wheel of an LX Coupe equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 143-horsepower, 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine. An optional continuously variable transmission (CVT), offered in lieu of 2013's 5-speed automatic, adds $800 to the bottom line. Prices for Civic Coupe EX, EX-L, and EX-L Navi (with navigation) variants have increased by $275, and now start at $20,290.

The popular 2014 Honda Civic Sedan, also upgraded with a host of new features, carries a base price of $18,390. LX models have increased by $225, the EX and HF are up $275 and $175, respectively, and EX-L and EX-L Navi trim levels see the biggest jump with an increase of $475. For the latter, that translates to a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $24,240. Honda has not yet announced pricing for the 2014 Civic Si or Hybrid models.

In comparison, the 2014 Toyota Corolla starts at $16,800, the 2014 Ford Focus begins at $16,310, and the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta has a base price of $16,720.
