Ram Truck Announces New Off-Road Package for 2500 HD Pickup

Ram Truck introduced at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show a new 4x4 Off-road package for any trim level of its Ram 2500 HD pickup. Since nearly 35% of pickup owners operate off-road for work and/or play, Ram officials said the new 4x4 off-road package will be a welcome addition to heavy-duty pickup truck buyers. The package will be available in the third quarter of 2016 at a value price point for buyers ordering the Crew or Mega Cab versions, Ram said.

The off-road package offers rugged components such as large front tow hooks for any kind of rescue or pulling event, as well as all-terrain tires plus larger black or body-color fender flares to help sling off mud or slush. Performance is also enhanced with upgraded stability control, a limited-slip differential, and Bilstein shocks. Underbody protection and a transfer case skid plate are also part of the package, along with a 4X4 Off Road decal on the truck’s rear fender.

In addition to announcing the new off-road package, Ram displayed “black-tie” Limited editions of the 2500 and 3500 pickups at the show for Ram HD truck enthusiasts and buyers who want luxury and performance. These Limited trim pickups—also available for the Ram 1500 light-duty version—feature premium black full-leather seating and real-wood interior cabin features along with unique badging.

The Ram Truck brand delivered 171,424 HD pickups in 2015, and in January 2016, Ram 2500 and 3500 HD truck sales rose to 11,376 unit sales vs. 10,875 in the same month a year ago, according to J.D. Power and auto forecasting partner LMC Automotive.
