Elon Musk shows off “Iron Man” system that uses hand gestures to build rockets

Because it's just too time consuming to design parts for rockets in computers as people do today with mouse and keyboard clicks, Tesla Motors co-founder Elon Musk pushed his engineers at his SpaceX firm to find a better way. The result, as shown in the video below, allow designers to grasp, push and pull virtual pieces much in the way Tony Stark did in "Iron Man."

The result, according to Musk, combines 3-D projections, 3-D printing and sensors into a much faster way to turn complicated machines into reality. "It's going to revolutionize design and manufacturing in the 21st century," he says with his trademark restraint. Never say Musk doesn't want to be hands-on in every part of his businesses.
