Obama’s Anger Translator, Luther, Is Back and Angrier Than Ever

Keegan-Michael Key dropped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert Tuesday night, where he reprised his famous role as President Barack Obama’s anger translator, Luther. Colbert asked Key to share Luther’s anger translations for some recent comments made by the former president.

On the subject of the Affordable Healthcare Act being repealed and replaced by Trumpcare, Obama posted on Facebook, “Simply put, if there’s a chance you might get sick, get old or start a family, this bill will do you harm.” Luther’s translation for that was, “Come on people, Trumpcare? More like Trump don’t care. Don, T, care — Don’t care. I fought for the ACA to help people!”

In May, Obama spoke with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, saying, “In this new world we live in, we can’t isolate ourselves; we can’t hide behind a wall.” According to Luther, Obama meant, “I spent eight years tearing down walls and this motherf***er wants to put ’em all up!”

Key tried retiring Luther back in January, but Luther announced on The Late Show that he has other plans. “I thought I was on a forced retirement,” said the embodiment of Obama’s anger, “but it looks like Obama still needs me, and I am back!”

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on CBS.
