Gwyneth Paltrow Says Acting Will Take a Back Seat to Goop

After years of working her way up the corporate ladder at a company she herself started, Gwyneth Paltrow was recently named CEO, and sadly that’s going to adversely affect her acting career. Paltrow said that she’s still going to do some acting, but most of her time will be devoted to Goop, the lifestyle brand she started in 2008 for out-of-touch rich people. Paltrow sat down with Matt Lauer on Today to talk about this life-changing decision.

“I’m still going to do a little bit [of acting] here and there, but this really requires almost all of my time. I’m in the office all day every day. I have a pretty big team now. We’re almost 85 people, so I kind of need to be at work,” Paltrow said.

Paltrow said that she has a passion for producing content and making great products, but she wants to distance herself from the brand that’s largely synonymous with the actress.

“I always look for ways to build the brand without my image,” Paltrow said, later adding, “I’m so focused on building the business, and I’m sort of less focused on the kind of Gwyneth Paltrow part.”
