Hasan Minhaj Celebrates White House Correspondents’ Dinner Victory on ‘The Daily Show’

The Daily Show correspondent Hasan Minhaj performed at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night. Even though Donald Trump refused to go to the dinner, Minhaj still took a lot of shots at the president. A couple of the shots that Minhaj fired were: “I get why Donald Trump didn’t want to be roasted tonight — by the looks of him, he’s been roasting nonstop for 70 years,” immediately followed by, “Historically, the president usually performs at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, but I think I speak for all of us when I say he’s done far too much bombing this month.”

On Monday, Minhaj returned to The Daily Show for a victory lap as he claimed he took down Trump. He told Trevor Noah, “You’ve been trying to take down Trump for a year and a half. I did it in one night!” Wearing a boxing robe and carrying two “championship” belts, Minhaj told Noah what allegedly happened after his speech. He said, “Twenty-five minutes later, Donald Trump resigned the presidency. He cried. He apologized to America for wasting our time. His hair fell off, and then when he bent over to pick it up, he split his pants.” Then Minhaj added, “You’re welcome, America.”

The Daily Show With Trevor Noah airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central.
