Mobile escape room coming to Champaign this week

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — A mobile escape room is stopping by the University of Illinois’ Research Park in Champaign this week.

Pharmaceutical and biomedical company BAYER is bringing “Breaking Through Impossible — The Escape Game”, its educational science-themed mobile escape room, to Research Park. The escape room will be open from Tuesday to Thursday in Champaign between 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and it’s free.

“Previous stops have been events like SXSW and in cities such as Austin, San Francisco, Berlin, Boston and New York, so we are thrilled to welcome this unique interactive escape room to Champaign,” said Laura Appenzeller, the executive director of the University of Illinois Research Park. “While it’s open to people of all ages, high school and college students are particularly encouraged to participate.”

The game tasks players to rescue a biotech breakthrough by solving puzzles and deciphering clues with their team. Up to six players can experience the escape room, and officials estimate the game takes about 30 minutes to complete.

The escape room will be housed just outside of Bayer’s Innovation Center, at 1904 S. First Street in Champaign, in a bright blue shipping container.

More information can be found on Bayer’s website. Booking a time slot, which is encouraged, can also be done on Bayer’s website.
