Jeep Comes Off A Trailer And Drives Itself

Everyone knows after you tighten the ratchet straps securing a vehicle or anything else to a trailer (or a truck bed, etc.) that you have to give one of the straps a tug and say “that’s not going anywhere!” If you don’t, you’re just toying with fate. That’s probably how this Jeep came off its trailer behind a motor home and drove itself onto the shoulder.

Police seize a multi-million dollar supercar.

The dashcam on the Wrangler captured the entire incident and it’s so amazing we wouldn’t believe it happened without the footage. Somehow, after the Jeep detached from the trailer, the straps obviously not tightened enough, the people in the motor home don’t notice it go on Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride.

Right after coming off the trailer, the Jeep veers to the right and quickly hits the paved shoulder. You can see it headed right for a light pole, but it thankfully misses that by a few feet as it leaves the roadway and keeps rolling onto the dirt and grass.

That’s when the second close call in the video happens, the Wrangler barely missing a road sign pole. At that point it seems inevitable the Jeep will wreck out gloriously as it seems to be accelerating.

As it starts climbing the embankment on the other side of the dry ditch next to the freeway, the steep grade slows the rig down considerably as it veers back toward the road. Swerving back and forth between both slopes, the vehicle slows even more, missing yet another post before the uphill grade ahead brings it to a peaceful stop.

How this Jeep didn’t crash is a mystery. We’ve never seen anything like it.

The guy who owns this rig blamed the incident on the road being rough. Wisely, he says he’s installed safety chains so the Jeep never gets loose and drives itself around again. Next time things probably won’t end so nicely.

Check out the incredible dashcam footage for yourself.
