Is Paris Fashion Week just an extension of the Oscars? At Valentino, all signs point to ‘oui.’
Mere weeks after Best Actress nominee Ruth Negga debuted a custom red gown from the classic fashion house, seven other scarlet dresses hit the Valentino catwalk, each with the high necks, long sleeves, and romantic (read: complicated, but still somehow cool) embroidery stitched at the waists, hems, and collars.
Models also wore similar makeup to the movie star, with deep red lips and kohl-etched eyes. And though the runway babes weren’t styled with their own baby blue ACLU ribbons, they did sport red beaded necklaces—a talisman in some Buddhist sects for power and positive action.
