After Theron appeared at the Atomic Blonde premiere in a revealing bralette, her stylist Leslie Freman tells InStyle what dressing your age really means.
In Atomic Blonde, out this Friday, Charlize Theron plays a top MI6 agent who travels to Berlin to take down an espionage ring. If the Cold War thriller’s buzzed-about fight scenes and ’80s soundtrack aren’t enough to motivate you to buy a ticket, perhaps Theron’s character Lorraine Broughton’s designer combat wardrobe will. Broughton wears them in several scenes in the movie, but they happen to star in one of Atomic Blonde’s most brutal fight sequences — likely because, unlike much of the rest of the heroine’s shoe collection (and, oddly, most footwear in female-driven action flicks), they’re low-heeled.
Hollywood officially has an "it" bra. Charlize Theron rocked the Dior bra for a second “Atomic Blonde” premiere. She's not the first star to show off the look.
The Oscar winner also stunned on the press tour in another white miniskirt paired with a top from Isabel Marant, as well as a red-hot Givenchy dress.
Over the past week and a half, Hollywood icons from Charlize Theron to Isabelle Huppert to Jessica Chastain have dazzled at the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival. Sure, most of the super-glam action takes place on the red carpet. But plenty of fashion moments happen all over the place. And they’re giving us major inspiration for Memorial Day weekend.
At Cannes, superstar Charlize Theron saluted Cannes up-and-comers with the Chopard Rising Star award and called herself their "godmother."
Anousheh Ansari accepted the award for Best Foreign Language Film for “The Salesman” at the Academy Awards on behalf of the film’s director, Asghar Farhadi. While airing the acceptance speech, an Iranian television network Photoshopped more clothing onto Ansari and presenter Charlize Theron.
Celebrities on the red carpet showed off glamorous gowns and suits at the 89th Annual Academy Awards. But perhaps even more captivating was the wide assortment of jewels that stars used to accessorize their looks.
One of the most dazzling parts of every Oscars ensemble is the jewelry. “There’s no set way it works,” Rebecca Selva, chief creative officer and PR director of Fred Leighton, tells Yahoo Style. “When we worked with Charlize Theron, Vera Wang created that tangerine dress around a pair of 1920s diamond dress clips,” says Selva.
After a photo surfaced of Charlize Theron and her son Jackson wearing a dress and an Elsa hat with a long blonde braid attached to it, some took to Twitter to shame the actress.
The Oscars’ reputation as the least risky red carpet may make them slightly less fun to sport-watch than, say, the OTT looks at the VMAs. But the relatively sedate approach to red carpet dressing makes the Academy Awards the best source of style inspiration. After all, most of us not named Miley Cyrus wouldn’t be caught dead in a shirt made of silver suspenders — but for prom or a big night out, plenty of women would want to channel Margot Robbie’s gold goddess dress or Charlize Theron’s show-stopping Dior gown. We found affordable versions of some of our favorite Oscars looks from last night.
It’s no surprise that supermodel turned actress Cara Delevingne is wearing her best threads for the press tour for her first feature film, "Paper Towns." She particularly shined at the New York premiere in a silver embellished cutout dress by Saint Laurent. Katie Holmes was also seen in the Big Apple wearing a metallic silver long-sleeved top paired with pleated leather culottes by Zac Zac Posen. The designer was also represented this week at the dinner he cohosted this week with Yahoo Style for the women of "Pixels." The film's star, Michelle Monaghan, rocked a bright red-orange short suit of his making.
Everyone's favorite television stars — and one movie star — came together at the Critics' Choice Awards on Sunday. Angie Harmon in Christian Siriano and Gillian Jacobs in J. Mendel were very on-trend in off-the-shoulder dress. Many wore black — Sarah Paulson in Prabal Gurung, Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Carolina Herrera, Taraji P.
Is there anything more chic than the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival? Yes, yes there is. It's the Nice airport, where stars are left to their own devices. Celebs like Sienna Miller and Charlize Theron are forced to face the cameras without the help of stylists, makeup artists, and hair stylists.
It was a family affair at the Mad Max: Fury Road premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday night. Priscilla Presley and Lisa Marie Presley were on hand to support rocker Riley Keough. Sean Penn walked the red carpet with the love of his life, Charlize Theron, who stars in the film and was wearing a black and white Dior dress. And Lisa Bonet, along with her partner Jason Momoa (the pairing effectively squashing any Lenny Kravitz rekindling rumors), were there for Zoe Kravitz, who looked so sweet in a lace Valentino gown.
Attention Hollywood actresses: Looking for a short cut to an Oscar nod? Go for the grunge. Today’s Golden Globe nominations feature a slew of leading ladies (Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Rosamund Pike, Julianne Moore) who purposefully deglammed themselves for their roles in 2014. Call it the Charlize Theron effect—the actress won an Oscar for gaining 30 pounds, shaving her eyebrows and donning prosthetic teeth to play a serial killer in Monster in 2003— as Hollywood’s golden girls like Reese Witherspoon and Rosamund Pike lose the glitz and glam for unmade faces, normcore fashion, and a few crazy moments.
