Surprise Drop!: Beyoncé’s New Song Is an Anniversary Present for Jay Z

Keeping up with her tradition of dropping new tracks completely unannounced, Beyoncé released a new video today for a new song “Die With You.” The sweet little piano ditty, which Queen Bey wrote for her husband Jay Z, on the occasion of her seventh anniversary. Traditionally, the seventh year of marriage warrants a gift of copper or wool, and more recently,a desk set, whatever that is.

Let’s face it, though, Jay and Bey probably already have all the wool and copper and desk sets they need, so a song is the all the thing left. With lyrics like “I open my eyes so I can see with you and I live so I can die with you,” the song is surely going to be a hit among all newlyweds ever.

Beyoncé is in full-on normcore, wearing a black tee, double braids, and a backward baseball cap. Looking totally flawless, apparently wearing no makeup, she giggles and flirts to the camera, which *spoiler alert!* is being held by none other than Jay himself. The song, premiered exclusively on Tidal, which means not only did Bey give him the gift of song, she presumably also gave him (and herself) the gift of money, from all the people that registered on the site to watch the video. Ah, ain’t love grand!
