Stars Rock Ponytails at the Oscars

It doesn’t get more formal than the Oscars, but yet one reoccurring hairstyle on the red carpet tonight has been the ponytail. While many people would opt for a traditional updo for such a special occasion, a quartet of major stars including Dakota Johnson, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, and Jenna Dewan paired their incredible gowns with more relaxed locks. But these were no scrunchie-laden looks.

Both Johnson and Lopez formalized their ponies by wrapping their hair around the base. Gaga went the opted for a sleek pony and affixed it flowers in her hair. Dewan, meanwhile, wore her version low and at the base of her neck. Though it is an unexpected trend, these looks didn’t appear too casual. The pony on the red carpet is great for today’s super cool glamour girls.
