Shay Mitchell Has A Better Question Than, “What Are You Wearing?”

“Ask me what’s on my bucket list,” says Pretty Little Liar actress Shay Mitchell. We’re at a lunch for Charlotte Tilbury, makeup artist to the stars—really big stars, like Kate Moss, Amal Clooney, and Sienna Miller—hosted by Net-a-porter and Porter magazine. I’m talking to Mitchell, and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo, about what they’d like to be asked on the red carpet other than the good old, “What are you wearing?”

“You mean other than, ‘Would you go to prom with me?’” says Culpo, who’s apparently been asked that more than once (sorry boys, she’s dating Nick Jonas). She’d rather answer Mitchell’s question: “Skydiving!” Mitchell, who’s been three times (Santa Barbara, Whistler, and Dubai), offers to take Culpo—after she crosses something off her own bucket list, however: “I’m going to Marrakech very soon,” she says, “which has been on my list for a long time.”

The actresses are at West Hollywood restaurant A.O.C. with a gaggle of other famous faces including Rachel Zoe, Liberty Ross, Ashley Greene, and Poppy Delevingne to celebrate Tilbury’s cosmetics collection, which launched exclusively at Net-a-porter last year. “She’s exactly the kind of woman Porter celebrates,” says Lucy Yeomans, editor-in-chief of the magazine. “She wants to make women look and feel their most beautiful.”

For Tilbury, that means “fresh dewy faces and a little bit of sparkle,” all of which she expects we’ll see at the Oscars on Sunday. She’ll be working with Sienna Miller (among others), and can’t say enough glowing things about her fellow Brit. “She is just killing it lately. I did her for the Golden Globes—and I did Amal, I did a lot of other people, but they all looked as you’d expect—and Sienna, her whole package, from hair to face to outfit, everyone’s like, ‘Wow! You’ve changed.’” Indeed, the whole world appears to be in agreement regarding Miller’s escalating level of hotness.

Meanwhile, the makeup artist has her own tip for red carpet interviews: “How about who is inspiring you right now? [The answer] tells you a lot very quickly about who someone is without being too invasive,” Tilbury says. “You’ll understand who they really want to be.” She names Helena Rubinstein, Estee Lauder, Coco Chanel, and her mom as her own inspirations, both right now and always. We’ll try that next time—given the vibes at Friday’s lunch, there’s a good chance more than one person will answer, “Charlotte Tilbury!”
