Rose McGowan Calls Out Sexist Casting Call for Adam Sandler’s New Movie

You already know that Hollywood is sexist. Every single woman—from the D list all the way up to Meryl Streep has railed against the male dominated industry in which women have to write their own roles, produce their own films, make less money than men, and look sexy on the red carpet.

And honestly, something happens every single week to drive this point home. Last week, it was Selena Gomez at the premiere of Transylvania 2, looking hot as hell in a two-piece red outfit by Katie Ermilio while her co-stars, Adam Sandler and Kevin James, looked like slobs in shorts and t-shirts. This week, Sandler’s once again involved.

Last night, actress Rose McGowan shared a casting note for a new film via Twitter. The image said that auditioning actresses are expected to wear a “form fitting tank that shows off cleavage (push up bras encouraged). And form fitting leggings or jeans.” She added that the male co-star’s name rhymes with Madam Panhandler and wrote, “hahahaha I die.”

McGowan took the tweet down, instead writing, “I was insulted by the instructions to read the script for context.” This morning, Sandler’s taking the heat for being sexist (it’s not the first time), but a movie’s lead actor isn’t writing the casting notes for auditions for supporting roles. Hollywood’s gender problem is rooted way above even a star as big as Adam Sandler.
