#PFW: RESEE REPORT

It has been a long month of fashion, starting with New York in early February to the final shows yesterday in Paris. However, the final day of re-sees was jam packed with some of my favorite designers. Here is what I learned about some of the pieces that waltzed by on the runway.

Stella McCartney, Look 33.

On any other designer, you would think twice about the fabric, but at a Stella McCartney show, you know this is 100% faux and you are correct. This is actually acrylic and relaxed to get the fur like appearance. Take a closer look and you will find zig zag wool pattern embroidered onto the coat for a luxe fur feel. And on every piece of McCartney’s faux fur coats, you will find a logo attached onto the coat with the saying ‘Fur Free Fur.’

Valentino, Look 76.

You may have heard what went down at the Valentino show yesterday. The BEST fashion week moment ever when Zoolander and Hansel closed the Valentino show, so you can imagine after that little appearance, no one can quite remember the beauties that went down the runway. To see the entire collection again was such a treat. Gowns in the best and most luxurious fabrics, rich embroidery, complicated and delicate stitching on fur, suedes, tulles, and silks but the stand out look was no. 76. Intricate, colorful silk embroidery on black felt, that was hand sewn onto tulle so the dress is kept light in weight while the felt helps gives the dress structure. The three-tiered tulle sleeve has hand sewn floral silks and the scallop cutout on the edges of the felt helps to break it all up in a very subtle way. This dress is stunning!

Sonia Rykiel, Look 25.

This very classic French look on Georgia May Jagger looks like a great jacket on the runway, interpreted the Rykiel way. However upon closer inspection, you find out along the collar is a row of safety pins all pinned along the edge as well as certain parts of the jacket and held together by a large safety pin with tassels. According to the PR, Madame Rykiel always had pins in her creations back in the day and the new collection representative of that. Trés charming!
