While at first glance, Demi Lovato and Kate Hudson couldn’t look any more opposite at the launch of Demi Lovato’s Fabletics line on May 10 — black vs. white, high vs. low, straight vs. wavy hair, night vs. day — they were actually subtly coordinated.

No, they weren’t both wearing Fabletics apparel. But Hudson and Lovato were showing their prowess in balancing sexy with girly. Both stars rocked floral flouncy dresses that showed a hint of skin.

For the daytime event, Hudson wore a long-sleeved black-and-white patterned frock with a high neck and Peter Pan collar. The top was completely sheer, showing her black bra. The dress had green sequin details all over and yellow stitching around her waist. It also had flirtatiously placed perforations (or zippers, it’s hard to tell) around the waist and down the arms. The flowy skirt was tiered and short, but Hudson wore black tights underneath. She added some funk with chunky peep-toe platform block heels.

Hudson was baring skin in a very subtle way, while Lovato went in a different direction: a little more obvious. Her off-the-shoulder white flouncy frock showcased her shoulders and chest. Like Hudson’s, it had a pink and green floral pattern and tiered skirt. To balance the sexiness up top, the tiered skirt stretched to her knees. Lovato opted for bare legs and strappy black heels.

Both had naturally glowing makeup and their hair down. Hudson’s straight hair added a bit of maturity to her look, while Lovato’s waves added some sex appeal.

They approached the look differently, but the outcome was the same: flirtatious yet edgy. Clearly, the collab was a good idea, because they really complement each other.
