J.W. Anderson's Eighties Flashback

The roaring innocence of party girls and the speed of consumption” was the official quote from designer J.W. Anderson in the program notes for his runway show. For me, the whole collection was a full on celebration of the over-the-top, go-go ’80s. It was Italian Memphis design meets “National Lampoon’s European Vacation,” when the whole Griswold clan goes on a shopping spree in Milan.

Think fire engine reds, bright yellows, sharp green tones… all the colors of the rainbow. But it was just the crazy color palter. There were folds, ruffles, exaggerated sleeves, printed leggings, oversized coats, lots of fringe, ruching, geometric bags (triangles!) and big belts. The only thing missing from the collection was the shoulder pads.
