These days, designer collaborations are a dime a dozen. But even in this saturated market, there is one name that can make our ears perk up to pay attention: Carine Roitfeld.

Yes, the high-priestess of Fashion with a capital-F, who is best known for her skin-tight sexy looks, kickstarting Riccardo Tisci’s career, and wearing mostly black, has announced plans to launch a collection in collaboration with Japanese über-brand Uniqlo, famous for their thermal layering undershirts. This may possibly be the most odd-couple pairing in fashion ever.

“I started from the idea of clothes that I would want to wear myself, and developed this into clothes that anyone would want to wear, a woman’s ideal of clothes that make her feel transformed when she wears them,” said Roitfeld about her upcoming collection, which is more or less the standard comment about a high/low designer collaboration, but nevertheless we are still really excited. Will the collection include slinky, thermal body-con shirts? Or just a bunch of really great white button down shirts meant to be worn exclusively unbuttoned? Guess we’ll have to wait until October to find out.
