Ashley Graham’s H&M Dress Made Her Feel ‘Confident and Sexy’ at the Met Gala

This year’s Rei Kawakubo-themed Met Gala has proved to be one of the most fashion-forward in its nearly 70-year history: Katy Perry stunned the crowd in her custom red Maison Martin Margiela gown by John Galliano, and Rihanna pulled off the Comme des Garçons fall 2016 runway opening look to the delight of social media and her die-hard fans.

But some looks, while equally stunning, were also slightly more, shall we say, wearable. H&M, one of the co-sponsors of the 2017 Met Gala, worked with models Ashley Graham, Stella Maxwell, singer Joe Jonas, and Future and proved fast fashion has a place on the red carpet.

The red-and-white, body-hugging gown looked sensational on Graham, with just the right amount of drama. Perhaps inspired by the Commes des Garçons “War and Peace” collection from spring 2015?

The design experience was very collaborative and personal, Graham, 29, tells Yahoo Style. “They created something that really represented my aesthetic and made me feel confident and sexy.”

And if you loved what Ashley, Stella, and Co. wore at the Met Gala, then you’re in luck. All the custom looks by H&M as worn by the celebrities last night are being auctioned off on Charitybuzz today. The proceeds will be going to Girl Up, a campaign of the United Nations Foundation that empowers girls to transform the world. So if Ashley Graham’s red gown or Stella’s pearly white made it into your best-dress list, then go online and start bidding!

Stella Maxwell, a model, loved the green aspect of her dress. “I love to feel comfortable and sexy and the dress H&M designed really plays to both of those qualities,” she tells Yahoo Style. “I also love that it is made of organic silk, as I believe sustainability should be considered when designing and creating anything today.”

Joe Jonas, not surprisingly, was inspired by music when he worked with the H&M designers to create his look. “I find it very inspiring to see the beauty around me,” the 27-year-old tells Yahoo Style. “It can be in people’s style, or even just being in a beautiful city. It’s all related. Your style is an expression of who you are, just like the music you like or create.”

Future’s black tails looked dapper from the front, but from behind, the jacket comes alive with a custom print.
