Gisele Bündchen just touched down in her native Brazil—and it’s not to visit family and friends. The 34-year-old Brazilian bombshell is in town for São Paulo Fashion Week, and she swears it’ll be her last. Last week, the supermodel announced that her body’s "asked to stop" and she’s listened; Bundchen will retire from the runway.
But first, her final walk. Bündchen will sashay down Colcci’s catwalk in São Paulo tonight. She’s a close friend of the Brazilian label and appears in the brand’s latest ad campaign. “I am grateful that at 14, I was given the opportunity to start this journey,” the mother-of-two posted on Instagram. “Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business.”
Bündchen, who’s been the highest paid model for eight consecutive years, fittingly kicked off her modeling career at São Paulo Fashion Week at only 14 years old. After sharing her iconic strut with the rest of the world at New York Fashion Week in 1996, she’s earned her Angel wings—and a $25 million contract with Victoria Secret—in 2000. Alexander McQueen gave her the nickname “The Body,” she walked Dior’s fall 2008 couture show at Versailles, and has inspired thousands of women across the world to get beachy blonde highlights.
