19 Cool Finds from the Fancy Food Show

The Summer Fancy Food Show, held at the Javits Center in New York City, is the biggest event of its kind, with 2,400 exhibitors from around the world showcasing more than 180,000 products. Yahoo Food stopped by the 61st annual conference to see and sample some of the offerings.

There were a number of clear trends. Products for vegans and vegetarians are more popular than ever, judging from the number of nut butters, fruit bars, veggie chips, and non-dairy ice cream brands on display. Maple is having a moment, as the health conscious turn to natural sweeteners. In addition to maple syrups, you could sample maple cream (a whipped maple product similar to icing), maple crunch (tiny chunks of maple sugar), and even maple-flavored water. Similarly, coconut brands were out in force, offering coconut sugar, oil, cream, yogurt, milk, and snacks. Soda alternatives were everywhere too, from canned matcha drinks to kombucha blends to cherry juice.

Despite all the “health” food on offer, America still has a major sweet tooth. There were countless chocolate companies, candy brands, and ice cream purveyors filling the aisles at the vast conference center.

We picked 19 of the products and brands that caught our eye — and our taste buds. Check out the slideshow to learn more.
