Jaguar has given its most ferocious crossover a light facelift. The F-Pace SVR, the 550-horsepower supercharged V-8 version of the company's flagship SUV, has received a slew of mechanical and cosmetic updates for 2021 that promise more performance and a better driving experience.

A remapped ECU for that 5.0-liter weapon under the F-Pace SVR's hood has netted 14 more lb-ft of torque over the previous model, for a total of 516—horsepower remains unchanged. The gains are enough to blast the high-riding Jaguar to 60 mph in a claimed 3.8 seconds—0.3 seconds quicker than before. Top speed is also improved, from 176 mph to 178. The company says the eight-speed automatic transmission now uses the torque converter from the XE SV Project 8 to withstand the higher loads.

The brakes have received some attention as well. There's more cooling than before, and higher-quality pads. There's a new electric booster system too, calibrated to deliver a "sportier and shorter brake pedal." Electrically assisted brakes, in our experience, have been hit-or-miss in terms of feel, so we're hoping Jaguar has it nailed down here.

While the bodywork doesn't look significantly different from before, Jaguar claims a 35-percent reduction in lift, and an overall reduction in drag for the F-Pace SVR. That should result in more high-speed stability. The interior gets Alcantara inserts, a new leather-wrapped shifter, and a 11.4-inch curved central infotainment display.

Jaguar has yet to release pricing or an arrival date in the U.S. for the updated F-Pace SVR. Expect it to come in at a few thousand dollars more than the current SVR's $80,600 MSRP, and show up sometime early next year.
