A woman with Louisville ties was recently named Miss Maine USA, and she's headed to Hollywood this summer to compete for the national title.

Anne Summer Baldridge, a former student of Christian Academy of Louisville and a graduate from University of Louisville and Ball State University, will be competing for Miss USA after winning her state's title earlier this month.

Baldridge grew up in Kentucky before moving to Portland, ME and becoming a news reporter for News Center Maine.

The pageant is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 4 in Los Angeles, California. It will be held at The Biltmore Los Angeles hotel.

Baldridge graduated from Christian Academy of Louisville in 2017, where she was a cheerleader and played tennis, before moving on to pursue higher education. “I truly loved CAL (Christian Academy of Louisville," Baldridge said. "Being a Christian is truly part of who I am, and I know God helped me to have the opportunity to represent the state of Maine.”

According to Miss Maine USA, Baldridge received a BA in mass communications with a specialty in broadcast journalism from UofL before earning a masters degree in journalism from Ball State. She is a classically trained ballerina and likes to golf in her free time.

"During Anne’s year of service, she hopes to inspire women to show up authentically online and in everyday life by integrating her work as Miss Maine U.S.A with her TV career," according to the website. "As a young girl, she had big dreams of one day working in the news industry — but struggled with a speech impediment. Now that she has achieved two lifelong dreams despite her obstacle, she plans to encourage others to transform their weaknesses into winning stories."
