Woman left critically injured in Sarasota crash

SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) — An 86-year-old woman was left critically injured following a crash in Sarasota County on Friday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at 5501 Swift Road and Swift Road at 10 a.m.

Officials said the woman was traveling west from the driveway access of 5501 Swift Road, just east of Swift Road.

She then turned in front of a 39-year-old Sarasota man who was traveling north in the left lane of Swift Road. The front of the man’s car collided with the left side of the woman’s car.

FHP said the woman suffered critical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
