Wiregrass teen battling cancer and rare kidney disease passes away

(WDHN) — A Wiregrass teen, who for the past year has been battling cancer and a rare kidney disease, has passed away.

Anna Oyler is a recent graduate of Harvest Christian School and last year was diagnosed with C3G or Complement 3 Glomerulopathy, an autoimmune disease that attacks the kidneys. and Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

This year Anna underwent several rounds of chemotherapy to attack the cancer and went through a bone marrow transplant to help grow a new immune system to take care of the kidney disease. On Friday, her battle came to an end and she passed away at Children’s of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham.

Anna’s life was a masterclass in courage and vivacity. She moved through the world with a spirited grace, touching lives and leaving behind a trail of laughter, inspiration, and love. Her lucky number was 8, and true to that, she became a symbol of infinity, of endless possibility and hope. Anna’s journey was not about the destination but about how she illuminated the path for others with her wit, bravery, and the warmth of her unforgettable hugs.
