Wind advisory in effect for parts of San Diego County

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Gusty winds reaching up to 75 miles per hour are expected in parts of San Diego County until late Friday night, according to the National Weather Service.

The agency issued a wind advisory for the San Diego mountain and desert areas early Thursday morning which remains in effect until 11 p.m. Friday.

Winds between 30 and 40 miles per hour are expected, with gusts reaching up to 65 miles per hour, the agency said. It added that winds will be strongest in the afternoons and evenings.

The wind advisory is in effect for Julian, Pine Valley and Borrego Springs, as well as several areas in Riverside County and the Coachella Valley.

NWS advises people in these areas to use extra caution while driving and secure outdoor objects to prevent them from blowing away.
