West Seneca schools name new superintendent

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The West Seneca School District has named a new superintendent, amidst turmoil in the school district that includes proposed layoffs of teachers to help with a $5 million budget shortfall.

Dr. Lisa Krueger, who is currently the superintendent of Newfane schools, will take over. Before that, she served as an elementary school teacher in the Lancaster School District and an elementary school principal in Orchard Park.

West Seneca is one of many local school districts struggling financially as pandemic funding comes to an end. Last week, students at both West Seneca East and West high schools walked out in protest of the proposed cuts to teachers. As many as 29 jobs are on the chopping block.
