Wednesday Outlook: Picture perfect day around Charlotte

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – We’re looking at one more day with sunshine and dry conditions before showers and storms roll in. This will kick off an active pattern that lasts through the weekend and into Memorial Day.

This morning starts off mild with low to mid-60s near uptown and mid to upper 50s in the mountains. Mostly Clear skies continue with light winds mainly coming out of the southwest throughout the day.

Highs will peak above normal making a run for the upper 80s through the peak heating hours of the day. A few patchy clouds will roll in ahead of the moisture that can produce Thursday’s rain and storm chances.

Overnight lows will dip into the mid-60s before upper 80s kick off the second half of the work week. An approaching cold front will trigger afternoon and evening storms that have the potential to pack a punch in the form of damaging winds and large hail.

We’ll have a Marginal Risk for severe weather on Thursday before intermittent storms linger through the end of the work week and into the weekend. Our unsettled pattern with likely linger through Memorial Day weekend into Monday.

Temperatures can touch 90 degrees on Saturday with upper 80s lasting into early next week. Mid-80s and isolated afternoon storms continue as we head into Tuesday.
