Fans at the Gem State Comic Con may have an opportunity to meet Sean Astin, the lifelong actor whose repertoire includes acclaimed roles like Samwise Gamgee, Rudy, Mikey in “The Goonies,” and Bob in “Stranger Things,” among many others.

The annual Gem State Comic Con will be at Expo Idaho on April 6 and 7. A press release on Thursday announced Astin will make a “special appearance” at the convention. Attendees will be able to meet the actor in person, take pictures and get autographs. He’ll also host a panel titled “There’s Some Good in This World, Mr. Frodo.”

“Astin’s appearance promises to be a highlight of the convention, offering fans a chance to engage with one of Hollywood’s most beloved talents,” states the Gem State Comic Con press release.

From a child actor to an award-winning fan favorite, Sean Astin’s repertoire is an impressive one. He’s starred in thrillers, heartwarming films, comedies and sci-fi. His primary roles with the highest Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes are:

What else can you expect at the largest pop culture event in Idaho?

There are panels hosted by Marie Westbrook, Clem So, Colin Baker and several others. They’ll also have autograph availability. A full list of panels and autograph options is available online. Dozens of vendors, organizations and exhibitors are scheduled to be at the convention as well.

Tickets are available for general admission and in family packs for four. Kids 12 and younger can attend for free with an accompanying ticketed adult. Pre-sale is open for autographs and photos.

  • General admission for Saturday: $15 online, $20 at the door
