Walton County crash involves SUV and fire truck: FHP

WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WKRG) — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Saturday night crash involving a fire truck.

According to an FHP press release, troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to U.S. Highway 90 at County Road 1087 on April 20 in response to an 11:38 p.m. crash involving a sport utility vehicle.

The SUV reportedly was traveling south on County Road 1087 in the left turn lane approaching U.S. 90 as a Walton County Fire Truck in emergency response was traveling east on U.S. 90 approaching the intersection of County Road 1087.

Reports indicate that the crash happened as the sport utility vehicle neared the intersection and attempted to cross over U.S. 90 to yield to a Walton County Ambulance traveling south on County Road 1087 with its emergency mode activated.

During the attempt to yield, the sport utility vehicle failed to yield to the fire truck and its front right bumper hit the left side of the fire truck, according to the FHP release.

Both vehicles were relocated from their final rest, according to reports.

A 26-year-old from DeFuniak Springs reportedly was driving the SUV; a 23-year-old from Navarre was reportedly driving the fire truck.

No injuries were reported in the crash.
