Voters pass school bond issue, elect board members

Apr. 2—A bond issue has passed in the Pittsburg School District, while a proposed bond issue failed in the Indianola School District.

Voters in the Hartshorne, Krebs and Crowder School Districts have elected school board members, based on unofficial complete results from the April 2 school elections in Pittsburg County, with 100% of the precincts reporting.

In the Pittsburg school bond election, voters passed a $560,000 school bond issue with 77 "yes" votes, compared to 24 "no" votes. The Pittsburg school bond issue surpassed the 60% margin needed for passage, with 76.24% of the voters casting votes for the measure, and 23.76% against it.

In the Indianola school bond election, voters declined to pass an $8,705,000 school bond issue, with the measure failing with 101 "no" votes, while 74 voters cast ballots supporting it. The Indianola school bond issue had 57.71% voting against it, while 42.29% voted "yes."

Votes for the three school districts with school board races in the ballot, include:

—Hartshorne — Ira Brinlee won over Ashlee Jowers for Office No. 4. Brinlee garnered 106 votes, or 75.71% of the ballots cast, while Jowers had 34 votes, for 24.29%.

—Krebs — Kathy Prichard won the race with Brian Franklin for Office No. 1. Prichard had 69 votes, for 77.53% of the total, while Franklin received 20 votes, for 22.47%.

—Crowder — Charles Kitchens won over Nicole Brooks for Office No. 4. Kitchens had 55 votes, for 68.75%., while Brooks had 25 votes, for 31.25%

These are preliminary election results, which will not become official until certified by the Pittsburg County Election Board.
