3 QUESTIONS
...about the campus protests
Anthony asked Yahoo News Reporter Katie Mather, who’s been covering the recent college campus protests, to talk about the latest developments and her reporting on the ground.
Anthony: What’s the latest on the protests?
Katie: Just yesterday, about 130 people were arrested at UMass. In D.C., police used pepper spray on protesters at George Washington University and arrested 33 while clearing out an encampment.
Anthony: What are students demanding from their universities?
Katie: It varies by school, but generally, they’re demanding divestment from Israel, info on institutional investments and amnesty for the students involved.
Anthony: What are the universities doing about the protests?
Katie: Some have made deals. But others, like Columbia, have called police to take down encampments and canceled graduation. Last week, some students told me the issue is bigger than a commencement.
Keep up with the campus protests: Read Katie’s reporting.
