Voter turnout under 10% in Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties during New York Primary Elections

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Voter turnout on Tuesday was down across our market in Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties all below 10% of registered voters.

In Chemung County, 6% of registered Democrats voted with a total of 878 votes, 800 of which went to President Joe Biden. For Republicans, 8.2% voted with 1691 total votes and 1,348 votes going to former President Donald Trump.

Moving west to Steuben County, 5.3% of registered Democrats voted in Tuesday’s election with 743 votes, 657 of those were for President Biden. On the Republican side, 2235 votes were cast, with 1892 going for former President Trump.

In Schuyler County, turnout was slim as well with 7.4% of registered Democrats casting 248 votes, with 217 of those going for President Biden. On the Republican side, 8.9% of registered voters went out to vote on Tuesday with 471 total votes and 395 of those going to former President Trump.
