‘There will be a void in many hearts’: Moneta Vol. Fire Department mourns loss of president after battle with cancer

MONETA, Va. (WFXR) — The Moneta Volunteer Fire Department is mourning the loss of their President and fellow firefighter, Chris Tucker.

At the end of 2023, Tucker was diagnosed with several cancers including brain cancer. This prompted firefighters across the county to band together to show their support. In February, the department held a fundraiser for Tucker to help cover his medical expenses.

On March 21, the fire department shared on social media that Tucker died. Tucker was a beloved member of the Moneta community and was known for his infectious smile.
