VIRGINIA (DC News Now) — Virginia State Police (VSP) said as warm weather season approaches, drivers and motorcyclists are heading into the most dangerous time of year for crashes.

VSP is urging Virginians to register for its motorcycle safety courses after it announced Wednesday that five motorcyclists had been killed in fatal crashes across the state just this past week, including one in Alexandria.

The training courses will be offered at various selected locations across the state, including Northern Virginia Community College’s Manassas campus.

Those interested must have a valid Class M endorsement license, appropriate riding attire and U.S. Department of Transportation-approved helmet and eye protection.
