Victim identified in shooting near Garden of the Gods Road

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said the victim of a shooting near Garden of the Gods Road on Thursday, April 18 has been identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office as 55-year-old Jason Bales of Colorado Springs.

According to CSPD, on Thursday officers responded to a shots fired call at around 11:45 p.m. in the 4200 block of Sinton Road near Garden of the Gods Rd. and I-25.

Police found a man, later identified as Bales, with life-threatening injuries. He was then taken to the hospital where he died. CSPD said while the Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, theincident is being investigated as a homicide.

CSPD said as of Tuesday, April 23 no one has been taken into custody and detectives continue to investigate the shooting.

Police said Bales was the 13th homicide in the City of Colorado Springs, at this time last year there were six homicides.
