Verdict reached in Flores trial

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — A verdict has been reached in the homicide case of “The People of the State of Colorado v. Gina Marie Flores.”

The six-day trial and two days of jury deliberations ended Thursday morning.

Flores was arrested in May 2023 after a woman showed up at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to her head. Investigators later determined Flores had shot her in the face during an argument over a common acquaintance.

Mesa County District Attorney Dan Rubinstein talked to WesternSlopeNow about the charges.

Flores was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder (extreme indifference) and first-degree assault. She was acquitted of attempted first-degree murder (premeditated), aggravated robbery, and theft.

Flores is being held without bond and her sentencing is set for April 30.
