VBPD: Gunfire exchanged during apartment break-in

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – There were no injuries reported following the exchange of gunfire inside a Virginia Beach apartment unit Friday night, police confirmed to WAVY.

Officers were called to the 5600 block of Emmy Place just before 10:30 p.m. for the report of shots fired. That location is the Spring Water Apartment Complex, off Diamond Springs Road.

According to police, investigators determined one of the apartments had been broken into and that gunfire was exchanged.

This is all the information police have provided about this incident. There is no word yet if anyone is in custody or facing charges.

A WAVY viewer sent us video of the scene from that night. You can hear an alarm going off and see several police officers present.

WAVY reached out to police to request additional details. A police spokesperson said they could not comment further as it is an ongoing investigation.
