Utah temperatures quickly rebound following a cool start to the work week

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Happy Tuesday, Utah! We started the week on a gloomy note, but gray skies have cleared, and sunshine is here to kick off Tuesday.

The bottom line?! Partly cloudy skies are in store with seasonably warm weather while the pollen count is primed to skyrocket into the extreme zone.

The low-pressure system responsible for our soggy Monday has quickly moved out, but a weak trough passing to the north tonight into Wednesday will bring some cloud cover back this afternoon and evening. Partly cloudy conditions are expected in northern Utah with decreasing cloud coverage toward the south.

Tuesday is forecasted to be 5-10 degrees warmer than yesterday which puts us right around seasonal norms. Daytime highs will run in the low 60s for most valleys, upper 40s to low 50s in higher elevations, and the mid to upper 70s in warm spots like St. George.

Temperatures in southern Utah will continue to climb to the low 70s and the mid-80s around St. George. Meanwhile, northern Utah will be slow to warm. Another northern system is pushing cold air southward which is going to keep northern Utah a couple of degrees below seasonal norms with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s through Thursday. High pressure to the south means the system will be nudged eastward before reaching Utah, so we’ll dodge most of the wet weather, but a light shower or two could brush the northernmost regions on Wednesday morning.

Monday’s rain helped clean the air, but with dry weather on deck, we expect pollen levels to quickly shoot back up. High pollen levels are anticipated today with extreme pollen levels tomorrow. Right now the main source is trees, but grass pollen is starting to contribute as well.

Temperatures are set to rise again at the end of the week ushering in a gorgeous weekend. We’ll keep you posted on the latest developments both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah!
